Defibtech Wins 2006 American Business Award SM

Defibtech announced today that it has won the 2006 American Business Award in the "Best Overall Company" category.

Hailed as "the business world's own Oscars" by the New York Post (April 27, 2005), The American Business Awards are the only national, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in the workplace. More than 1,500 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in various categories, including Best Overall Company, Best Executive and Best New Product or Service. Experts estimate that as many as 1 in 600 people in the world suffer sudden cardiac arrest each year. "The bottom line is that the Torino Winter Olympics will be a safer place because our defibrillators will be protecting spectators and athletes alike," Vaisnys said.

"Defibtech has won numerous awards for its products and services, but this award looks at the big picture", said Defibtech CEO Dr. Glenn Laub. "To win the ‘Best Overall Company' award in the American Business Awards broadens the scope of our accolades to include recognition of the overall success of our company."

Selection of Defibtech for the "Best Overall Company" award is just the latest of many prestigious honors that Defibtech has received. For its contributions to making high-quality AEDs more affordable and accessible, Defibtech received the Best Bang for the Buck Award from leading AED industry analyst Frost and Sullivan in September. The Defibtech Lifeline and ReviveR AED has won the Gold Medical Design Excellence Award from Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry magazine, the Industrial Design Excellence Award (Industrial Designers Society of America), Good Design Award (Chicago Athenaeum), Design Excellence Award (Appliance Manufacturer magazine), Technology Innovation Award (Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce) and the Gold Connecticut Quality Innovation Prize -- America's oldest state-level Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

Defibtech achievements in the last year also include winning the largest public access AED deployment in AED history, being the exclusive supplier of AEDs to the Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy and being chosen for an exhibit of safety products at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City.
